Very good service. I've gone for the "Menu Confluence" with a butternut soup with chestnuts as a starter which was fantastic. The Braised Veal Tendron with Mushrooms and Mashed Potatoes was quite nice. And the Floating Island for dessert was OK.

We arrived at 830 PM on a cold and rainy Saturday night. We were handed a buzzer and told there'd be a 45 minutes wait. Stood in line to get a tasting of their lauded craft beers, but were disappointed after waiting 30 minutes to find out they only had one of their beers available. Shortly thereafter, we were buzzed to alert us that our table was ready.
This place is massive...must be 400 seats at least. We ordered one of the raw seafood plates, escargot, one of their sauerkraut dishes and a fish dish. The service was fast and friendly, the quality of their seafood was extremely high, the snails were really good and the sauerkraut was spectacular. Still lingering there finishing our wine close to 1130, the place was still packed!
Oh and the live music absolutely made the night. I would recommend this place as a wonderful change of pace to all of the other rich food throughout France. -

Over two years later, and I returned to this famous Lyonnais establishment.
I ordered a "menu lyonnais," in which I started with a lentil salad. While hearty and refreshing, I found my choice was a little too cold to be eating on a chilly October day. The main dish was rabbit served on mashed potatoes-- sadly, the rabbit was served lukewarm, although the flavors were pretty good. Dessert was a praline floating island: while I'm not a huge fan of meringue-based desserts, I found the floating island well-executed, as it was light and airy, with a bold sweetness from the praline that immediately hits your sweet tooth.
While I don't believe that Brasserie Georges serves the best brasserie food out there, the dishes are solid, and it's the experience of dining in a historic restaurant that makes it worth a visit. -

This isn't just a restaurant but a dinning experience! If you're in Lyon, make sure to have lunch or dinner at this over century old restaurant that operates like a well oiled machine! From the moment you arrive you feel the energy in this place! The waiters are moving at 1000 steps a minute and you won't be left unattended for very long. Unlike most French restaurants, you can dine pretty quickly here - within an hour of being seated if you'd like (however expect some time to get seated on any night of the week).
We ordered the escargot, the duck confit with fois gras, and Quenelle (the traditional fish meat dish to Lyon similar to a coquille saint jacque in terms of flavouring). All three dishes were outstanding. The value for money is quite good and what you'd expect of a brasserie.
To give a sense of the atmosphere, the restaurant has a live brass band that every few minutes is playing happy birthday, the lights dim and the waiters bring a sparkly desert to the recipient's table. The frequency is likely just from gag birthdays.
The decor is likely original or similar to, and picture worthy. -

Excellent food. Prices are reasonable. Very beautiful place to dine on a Saturday night. French onion soup was Delish!!
